This is phase of transformation in India's multilateral relationship buildings with various nations including the groups i.e SAARC, BIMSTEK, UN, NATO and Indo-Pak as well as Indo-China relationships. Definitely, India required an experienced professional to nurture the foundation and fortunately, he is the right man at the centre to extend proper strategic planning and execution of the existing relations to take them up.

However, India's challenge will be to deal the trade negotiations by the Trump govt., India's oil import issue as well as India's defense trade with Russia because of upcoming sanctions as per CAATSA (Countering America's adversaries through sanctions act) and above all china's growing dominance over south china sea region as well as its influence on India's neighbors.
